    Ayur Village Retreat is a venture by Sarathy Ayurveda. Sarathy Ayurveda has its inception in 2004 by Dr PK Lathika a renowned and experienced doctor. She was till then the Chief Medical Officer at Kerala Ayurveda Ltd. The begins of Sarathy Ayurveda is with Sarathy Ayurvedic Clinic, an out-patient clinic opposite Aluva Palace Bank Road Road Aluva and Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital on the banks of Periyar at Elookkara near Aluva. Sarathy Ayurveda under the eminent leadership of Dr. Lathika, is aptly supported by the General Manager Sri. KP Suku and the family

What are Digestive Disorders? What are the causes? Who is at risk of suffering from digestive disorders?

Digestive disorders are a set of diseases that affect the digestive tract. The diseases that affect the organs of the digestive tract including the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine pancreas, liver, or biliary tract are classified in the broad category of digestive disorders. Gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastritis, indigestion, peptic and duodenal ulcers, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, piles, IBS, hepatitis, cirrhosis and a host of other diseases including cancers come under this category Most of these digestive disorders are preventable with a healthy lifestyle and food habits

Few digestive disorders are classified as functional digestive disorders where the oesophagus GI tract appears but does not work as required. Examples are constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), nausea, gas, bloating and diarrhoea

Common causes of digestive disorders are

Eating a low fibre, high sugar, oily spicy, unhealthy meal

  The common risk factors for Digestive Disorders include age, gender, family history, unhealthy diet, improper lifestyle, and other certain medical conditions. Lifestyle risk factors include: consuming fatty, sugary, spicy food in large quantities, alcohol, smoking, and couch-potato habits

Common Symptoms of Digestive disorders:

  Common symptoms include any of the following depending on the kind of disorder and the organ system affected. Symptoms may include mouth ulcers, loss of appetite, heartburn, belching, hiccups, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, constipation, change in bowel habits, weight loss, sensitive stomach, ulcers, jaundice, etc.

  Ayurveda refers to AGNI as the agent of digestion. Agni or fire is the sum total of all the enzymes and digestive juices responsible for digestion. Having an optimum Agni is optimum digestion. Any imbalance in Agni is the cause for digestive disorders.
